Can a man pull a train? Yes he can and he did!

On the 27th of July 2013 Reefsteamers held their annual open day at their depot in Germiston.
As part of the day's entertainment they challenged a Strongman to see if he could pull one of their locomotives and of course he liked the challenge.

The locomotive to be pulled was the 25NC no 3472 locomotive names Elize. The Strongman taking the challenge Ettienne Smit 8 time SA champ. The locomotive was ready and waiting on her spot on line 2 on the day of the event and with the crowd there to cheer him along Etteinne strapped himself into his harness and dug his heels in to pull the 25 class. Despite the locomotive best efforts she was beaten on the day by the strongman. Weight pulled 226.6 tons, distance he achieved 19meters. After he had done the pull I heard one of the crown shout "give the man a Bells" so clearly he had impressed the crowed and wowed them with his strength.

Kurt Darren and Snotkop @ Reefsteamers

Today was such a  fun day I had to blog it to share with everyone. Kurt Darren and Snotkop were shooting a music video at the Reefsteamers depot and as all video shoot go there were many retakes and much hurry and wait while scenes were set and makeup re touched or locomotives moved to where they had to be for the shoot. Not even the threat of a afternoon thunderstorm deterred everyone from enjoying the day.
The images that follow are a few of the ones I managed to capture including a few showing the behind the scenes action.

More images can bee seen on the Reefsteamers facebook page.

Jeandre & Mari - Couple Shoot at Reefsteamers

Jeandre and Mari approached me a while back to ask about doing a couple shoot to celebrate having been together for 4 years. They asked if I would be willing to do the shoot at Reefsteamers as they are both mad about Steam Trains. Jeandre being a trainee Fireman with Reefsteamers and Mari a coach controller.
After a planning meeting with them at the depot we had this shoot totally sussed for this awesome fun loving couple. Having done the couple shoot for Jeandre and Mari I can say that they are a couple who are just meant to be together and will be together for many many years. I can see them growing old together and being as in love then as they are now.

Thank you Jeandre and Mari for chosing me to do your special shoot.

cupcakes and jelly beans

Which cupcake do you want?

We'll have these one's they're oh so yummy.

And so she was rescued!

The sand "fight" not sure who had the most fun me shooting this or them doing this. So much much fun and laughter was had that the guys working on the depot came looking to see what was going on as all they could hear was the laughter and giggles echoing through the sheds.

The end of the day storm clouds were brewing which gave us a beautiful sunset.
Just love the ring flare in this image.
